You were busy making lunch when you heard your phone ring. You sighed in frustration and quickly wiped your hands to answer. "Hello?" A familiar voice answered almost immediatly. "Kesesese~ Oi! [Name]! How is my favorite girl?" You rolled your eyes. Gilbert had always liked you, and you liked him, but you didn't want to make a commitment like a relationship with him until you knew he loved you and was going to be faithful. "Gilbert, number one. I am not YOUR girl. Number two. I'm kind of busy at the moment, can I call you back later?" There was ailence at the other end of the line. "Hel-" "What are you doing that is keeping you from the awesome me?" You started to get annoyed. "I don't think that's any of your business-hey! Don't touch that! Baby! Stop! Let that go! I-I'm sorry, Gilbert! I have to go!" You quickly hung up the phone.


Gilbert just stood there in utter shock. Did he just hear you right? You didn't want to hang out with the most awesome person he knows and you called someone else your baby. Gilbert tried to play off his feelings. He walked into the living room and threw his phone down. "Tch, what ever. She's just gonna be missing out on all this awesome! Yeah! That's it. I was just too awesome for her to handle. Kesesese.~" He turned on the television and began flipping through the channels. About five minutes had passed and he began twitching in his seat. Suddenly, he stood up and raced for the kitchen. "I'm not going to lose [Name] to some random bastard!" He grabbed his keys and ran out the door.


Gilbert had somehow made the normal thrity minute drive to your home in ten. He got out of the car and ran, not even bothering shutting off his vehicle. He opened the door and ran inside. "[NAME]!" He practically screamed. You ran out from the room you were in. You saw him and quircked an eyebrow. "Gilbert?" Gilbert ran to you and embraced you like he never had before. "[Name]! Please don't give up on me! Don't choose some asshole over me!" You blushed at his closeness. "Gilbert, what are you talking about. Keep it down." He pulled away and grabbed your shoulders and held you close. "[Name], I-I love you!" "W-Wha-" You were cut off when he slammed his lips onto yours. Your eyes widened and your face grew a darker shade of red. He pulled away leaving you breathless. He cupped your face in his hands and rested his forehead on yours. You looked up into his eyes as he spoke. "[Name], I love you and even though you don't want to be with me, I want to be with you. I have for years. So please, will you be mine?"


You smiled. That is exactly what you've been wanting to hear from him. "Oh Gilbert. I love you too." He looked surprised. You took this chance to lean forward and place a light kiss on his lips. He pulled back looking confused. "What is it?" You noticed how red his face was. "[Name], if you love me, then why are you with someone else?" Now it was your turn to look confused. "Wait, what? Gilbert, I'm not with anybody. I've been waiting for you to man up and tell me how you really felt." His voice raised. "Yes you are! I heard you talking to someone and then you called them 'baby'!" "Gilbert! Hush!" Just then, the sound of a babys' cry was heard throughout the house. "Damnit! I just put him to sleep!" You ran off to the room you had come out of when Gilbert busted in. He followed you trying to figure out what was happening. He gasped when he saw you cradling a baby that looked no older than one. You looked at him and motioned him to go wait in the living room. He did as he was told. He walked to the couch and took a seat.


Ten minutes had passed and you crept out shutting the door quietly behind you. You walked over to Gilbert and sat down next to him. He looked embarrassed. "So-" He started "-that was 'baby' and....you have a kid?" You laughed. "No stupid. I'm baby sitting for my sister while she's at work." You saw him sigh in relief. Feeling bold, he grabbed your hand. "[Name], I'm sorry for everything." You blushed as you leaned your head on his shoulder. "No, it's fine. It got us here, didn't it?" Gilbert smiled. "Yeah, I guess misunderstandings aren't all bad."
